Katchall developed the KLEERSTREAM shallow-draft filtration vaults (2007) in response to a request from Hunsaker & Associates (Irvine) for a underground filtration chamber that could be used for a 200+ acre site with minimal slope degradations. It was imperative that the system that would not require a substanual draft (space underground) as there was only about 6-foot elevational differences between the high and low ends of the property.
There was the additional consideration that the systems had to filter a fairly substanual discharge volume of waters, i.e. 50 -100 CFS.
Katchall designed the KLEERSTREAM to accomplish both tasks, a shallow-draft vault with multiple medias to accommodate both the "first-flush" events and the large volumes of water that will be anticipated during heavy storm events. The KLEERSTREAM units will filter 100% of discharges up to a 75-year storm event.
