With emerging water shortages and the increasing use of recycled / reclaimed water for public needs, it quickly became apparent that the predominate treatment technologies utilized for tertiary treatment of "black water" wasn't meeting the new effluent limitations imposed by several of California's Regional Water Quality Control Boards.

Katchall wanted to explore the possibility of utilizing some of our proven technologies and see if they couldn't be successfully applied in the wastewater treatment arena. What we developed suprised a lot of folks, including ourselves!

We weren't sure that we could design a large enough, cost-effective, system that would handle the tremendous daily volumes of water, I.e. between 1- 5 million gallons per day, MGPD.

We designed a system that not only has a capacity of 10 MGPD, but eliminates 99.99% of ALL single-cell microorganisms, (including protozoa) AND removes over 85% of several toxic heavy metals.

Cast-in-place vaults measure 20' (L) x 8' (w) x 8' (D) and require less than 200 s/feet of space - each
