Channel filters are primarily used for filtration of large open site drainage channels or in flood control channels.

Back in 2006, Katchall was asked to assist in solving a filtration issue for an old hazardous waste collections and storage site in Dighton, MA and custom designed a series of channel 'baffle' filters.

The state had used the property for a myriad of uses, (appx 40-years), sold the site to a developer and then determined that it was discharging several known toxic pollutants into three (3) separate impaired waterbodies and demanded that the developer clean it up.

Katchall channel 'baffle' filters were installed throughout the site, subsequent water quality testing determined that toxic pollutant effluents (primarily heavy metals) were reduced by an average of 75% over previous water quality tests.

The structural integrity we included has since withstood several discharges exceeding 150 CFS!

Reinforced Aluminum U-Channels                                 A series of three (3) units were installed
were used on both walls and floors to                              including a "primary" and "secondary"
provide support for "insert" weir filters                         filter to aid in removal / cleaning processes

Units can be manufactured in virtually any size to fit a variety of applications
Reinforced fiberglass grates (frame structure) are available from 1/2-inch to 2-inch thick
Media is "pillow-cased around frames so that they can be easily removed, cleaned or replaced as needed
