As our cities age, accumulations of vegetative matter and urban debris continues to become an overwhelming issue for all types of storm drain inlet structures, curb inlets, catch basins, etc.

In order to keep our storm drainage conveyance systems free from accumulated debris, and to further extend the life of the filtration media within our filtration devices, Katchall developed a line of Pre-Entry Trash Nets.

Reinforced fiberglass grating material forms the backbone of the device, which is attached to the top of the curb inlet vault. The grating is then covered with a UV-resistant HDPE netting (with various mesh sizes available).

The entire device is "free-swinging", in other words, can open during a heavy storm event, discharging the accumulated debris into the filtration device if proper street maintenance (sweeping) has not yet occurred.

Pre-Entry Trash Nets are not generally forced open by the actions of a street sweeper and therefore the accumulated debris can be easily removed from the curb / gutter openings.

Unobstructed flow rates expressed are based upon 3/8" mesh & 1/2" thick reinforced fiberglass grates

Heavy Duty fiberglass grates are available (for extremely heavy flow areas) up to 1-inch thick   (Fig 1)

Pre-Entry Trash Nets are also available with "pillow-cased" antimicrobial filtration media   (Fig 2)

Mesh sieve sizes are available from 1/8" to as large as 1-inch (black color is standard)   (Fig 3)
